VISKUM / WORKS / INSTALLATIONS

MONOGRAMS

Viskum’s Monogram series will contain 12 works when finished. Inspiration for it comes from the American artist Robert Rauschenberg (1925–2008) and his well-known work entitled Monogram (1955–59). Located in Stockholm’s Moderna Museet, Raschenberg’s work presents a taxidermic angora goat with a tire around its middle, the rubber heel of a shoe and a tennis ball, all of which are placed on a panel consisting of bits of wood, textile, metal, newsprint and paint. At present Viskum has finished nine works (installations) in his series. All include a taxidermic animal and rubber tires placed atop a large surface painted with ‘The hand that never stopped painting’. The exception is Monogram XI, which consists of 82 casts of angora kid goats – one for each year Rauschenberg lived.
